I don't think it's necessarily a boss theme, but it definitely has that evil/dark theme. It's sounds like it would be the theme that would be playing right before you get to the boss. If if was a boss theme, it would be more intense feeling when listening to it. It's not bad, and I'm not saying that you couldn't use it as a boss theme. I just felt that the song never really burst out with excitement or with a faster paced theme that would be the chorus of the song. Since this is your first audio that you made, you did an awesome job. I would suggest changing the title, but that's just my opinion (my first songs sucked btw).

GeoskiBeatz responds:

Now that I think about it, it does seem a bit more fitting to a theme right before the boss you are right.

I'm glad that you like it, as your review is extremely motivational!

As far as the title change, I may change it later... That is, once I figure out how xD

I could have sworn that this sounded like it was an 8 bit version of one of the songs from The Adventures of Batman & Robin game for the Sega Genesis, but I can't figure out which song it sounds like the most. It definitely sounds like it would fit for that game (minus the 8 bit). Great song! The ending could be better.

I was definitely expecting the drums to come in sooner. Otherwise its a good song! I wouldn't say that Doomsday is a good name for it, especially since after the intro it no longer sounds like a doomsday type of song. Overall, it's not bad!

I loved the intro! However, everything after 0:52 wasn't as good. I felt that there was too much going on. I'm not sure if its the cymbals that is causing it, but you have way too much noise, which takes away from your melody rather than supporting it. If you listen carefully, you can pick out most of the melodies, but there is just too much going on. Also, you don't have any bass which would be really nice to include that at 0:52. Overall, it was ok! Also I agree with WilsonMcLeish. Work on those dynamics!!!

I seen your post on the WIP advice thread. At the very end of what you have so far, you should repeat the first melody that you had (the first 15 seconds), except add more drums, cymbols, and other percussion instruments. Then after that, come up with another melody and maybe add a little bit of harmony with it as well. That will make it last about a minute long.

Overall, it's pretty decent! It just needs to be longer. There might be a few high notes between 15-30 seconds that seem to clash with the lower notes on the piano.

Yoshiii343 responds:

Well...I could try to add more percussion (no cowbell sorry :C) to the first 15 seconds. Coming up with another melody with a bit of harmony is a bit hard (since I have limited knowledge about music in general lol), but I'll do my best.

Working on it right now, and I've removed the high notes during the last 15 seconds. Thanks for the feedback!

It definitely sounds like the last battle from Cave Story. Also I believe that scubasteve92 thought that this was an original song rather than your version of the song. However, he does have a point about making it more dramatic. Overall, this was pretty good!

Whitesonic responds:

Yeah, this was more of a rearrangement than a remix. I think i could've made it more dramatic with a more realistic selection of instruments. Not being able to play with a real distortion guitar really hurt the chance of that happening. I could've brought it out a bit too, but that would've only played to the song's advantage had i actually been able to give the guitar some howl like i would've wanted to. Once i get more of a feel for this new software i'll pump out something prettier.

It's a decent song

Overall, I like your interpretation of the medley by making it a calm/peaceful song. I felt that at 0:56 you could have made the entrance of the brass instruments much louder so it doesn't sound like they are trying to hold back as much...
I also feel that you could have added a lot more to the song (It is a short song for a medley) so that you are slowly building up in the energy in the instruments and the melody and focusing even more on the main parts of the songs (maybe speeding up a little bit as well as making it louder).

very repetitive

It's only repetitive because you only have one melody that lasts about 6-7 sec before it repeats itself. Try changing the melody of the song after it repeats for a while, or possibly adding another melody right before you slowly start muting your "instruments". Because your song is such a low bass song you could possibly add another higher pitched "instrument" to your song with its own melody.

SuperBastard responds:

Yeah, I planned on extending this a bit so it would be less repetitive, but I haven't gotten around to working on it yet. Thanks for the review!

average

I don't know about it having too many effects. the only thing i noticed was how the song was very repetitive at the beginning and then it changes into a new repetitive song. Its repetitive in a way that nothing new happens, its just a simple beat with a simple tune to it. There's nothing that makes it unique or special. it needs more fine tuning and experimenting with different melodies to make the song more interesting to listen to, even if it is a preview of the full song.

Ir0nwoods responds:

Thank you for your suggestions. As I have mentioned earlier, I will most likely add something more unique to it. I'll spend some time fine tuning and experimenting. Hopefully it will benefit the song as a whole. Thanks again for your input, I appreciate it!

pretty good!

Something that bugs me is the weird knock/click noise at the very beginning of the song as well as one or two other spots.

Otherwise the singing is nearly perfect (minor things is the "s" sound doesn't sound great with all of the vowels and soft consonants, as well as not pronouncing some of the consonants at all).

Something that I would love to hear in this would be instruments! the voices will still be the main part of the song, you just need something to make it more epic. An example of what I'm talking about is The Hymn of the Faith for final fantasy 10 (there are several versions of it). the voices make the song but the instruments add more to the song, giving it the strength and more of the mood to the song.

Hello everyone! I'm basically someone that loves free stuff, hacking into things (like my Wii), and occasionally will make a song or two and post it on Newgrounds.
